meet your coach
With over 14 years of climbing experience and 4 years of coaching, I bring an analytical yet deeply personal approach to each session.
My background in math and engineering has uniquely shaped my coaching style, influencing the way I analyze movement. I don't just focus on how a move feels; I break it down into its core components, like trajectories and forces.
By understanding the exact way your body moves, I can pinpoint adjustments that make a big difference, helping you climb more efficiently and with less effort. This perspective not only helps you understand your movements, but also empowers you to master them. My passion is to help climbers like you reach your full potential by combining technical insights with personalized coaching.
You might wonder why a Machine Learning Engineer with an M.I.T. degree in Math and Computer Science switched careers to coach climbers. In my mid-twenties, I faced significant health challenges that changed my perspective on both climbing and my professional life. Through training and climbing during my recovery, I rediscovered the importance of self-compassion and the joy of movement.
I knew I wanted to spend my time helping others discover the same thing.
I believe that embracing climbing as a form of movement mastery, and finding joy in practice leads to tangible progress.
My passion lies in bouldering, where I've achieved a V11/8A outdoors and competed nationally in the US. But my expertise extends to lead and trad climbing, and I’m convinced that all climbers can benefit from the strength, technique, and mental fortitude developed through limit bouldering.
Over the years, I've had the privilege of coaching a diverse range of climbers, from alpine enthusiasts and youth competition athletes, to double-digit outdoor boulderers. Whatever your goals, my coaching philosophy centers on finding the changes that fit within your schedule, and have the biggest impact on your climbing. Starting with movement analysis, I integrate technical skill development, mindset training, and targeted strength exercises tailored to your needs.
Since each climber is different, you should be training in a way that plays to your strengths and fits your lifestyle!
This comprehensive approach equips you with the tools to become a stronger, healthier, more resilient, and – dare I say it? – smarter climber.
